Ghee being linked to obesity a common misconception, and thankfully we have enough research to prove the truth as being otherwise. The idea of ‘fat’ being bad for the body is a dated one. Not all fat is harmful, and traditionally produced desi ghee all the more.

Obesity is excessive fat accumulation that impairs our health. The fundamental cause is an imbalance between the calories we consume and calories we spend. This could be a result of the type of food we eat coupled with lack of body activity. According to WHO worldwide obesity has tripled since 1975, and it has affected both adults and children alike. It’s disturbing trend, but thankfully it is preventable.

Along with increased physical activity a conscious choice of healthy food is the path to choose. Making A2 ghee (Desi cow milk ghee)an integral part of that lifestyle change is beneficial in more ways than one.

A2 ghee expediates body’s fat burning while also strengthening the digestive system. It is an excellent source ofOmega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9.

It contains Omega 3 fatty acid DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) which improves brain, heart and eye health along with reducing inflammation. Omega 3 reduces triglyceride levels in the body, which is a common fat-carrying particle in the blood. DHA is not produced naturally in our bodies and must be taken as a part of our diet.

A2 ghee also has a healthy ratio of Omega 6 fatty acid CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) and Omega 9. Both are known to reduce bad cholesterol (LDL), increase good cholesterol (HDL) and reduce body’s fat mass. It improves lean body mass by calming inflammation, removing plaque build up in arteries and helping fat cells burn faster.

There are 9 essential amino acids required by the human body and cow’s milk, and by its derivation the ghee, contains it all. Leucine is an essential amino acid present in milk which plays a big role in protein synthesis and energy metabolism. It helps build strength and lean muscles while reducing fat and improving body’s recovery time.

All of this on top of cow milk ghee’s vitamin profile (Vit A, D, E and K2 to state some prominent ones) makes it an ideal diet choice. You can choose to have 1-2 small spoons of A2 ghee every day mixed in your food or with warm water in the morning for better digestion. In addition to reducing fat, ghee also improves overall body health and proves itself as the ultimate superfood for life.
